This January, Toulouse FC is getting ready to attempt a world record as unusual as it is delicious. The objective? To exceed 57.60 metres, the length required to win the very serious title (or not) of the world’s longest galette des rois. Yes, that’s all there is to it. And what’s more, there are plenty of prizes to be won. We tell you all about it.
The record for the world’s longest line of galette des rois
The feat will be achieved in collaboration with the pastry chefs from Maison Herenger, Toulouse FC’s new official bakery. The crazy mission will take place in a few days’ time, on the Stadium forecourt, just before kick-off of the Ligue 1 match: TéFéCé – OGC Nice. In other words, the thousands of spectators expected to attend are likely to be breathless… and salivating.
Whatever the outcome, the record will remain French. It is currently held by a team of five bakers from Aurillac, in the Cantal region of France. In January 2024, they produced a galette 57.60 meters long. An imposing delicacy requiring 200 kg of frangipane and 570 beans, it was then sold in shares for the benefit of Secours Populaire. But we know that the Toulousans are on the ball, so we all believe in it.
600 beans, a record, and prizes in the bag
The date is set: Saturday January 17, 2026 at 7pm. A bailiff will be on hand to certify the performance, which, if successful, will go straight into the coveted Guinness World Records.
While the club is keeping tight-lipped about the ingredients and logistics, one question is worth asking: will they be aiming for the length of a soccer pitch, i.e. a minimum of 90 meters? That would be absolutely crazy! What we do know for sure is that the galette will contain 600 beans, 30 more than the previous record. And beans mean kings, queens… and 600 gifts for the lucky ones.
On the team’s website, the teasing campaign has already begun, and our mouths are already watering. Les Violets fans and gourmets alike are invited to attend this sporting, festive and mouth-watering event, which promises to be the talk of the town. To attend the match and the event, tickets are still on sale from €13.
