This building, featuring classical and neoclassical architecture and once the largest hospital in Toulouse, closed its doors in 1987. Today , it is an integral part of the city’s heritage, listed as both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic monument. It lies along the Way of St. James and is open to visitors. It is in its Sisters’ Chapel that you can attend candlelight concerts.
The Chapel of the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques University Hospital is located at 2 Rue Charles Viguerie, Toulouse.
Located right in the city center, you’ve probably walked right past it without noticing. It once belonged to a convent, but today it’s the only building that wasn’t destroyed during the French Revolution. This little “Sistine Chapel” doesn’t look like much from the outside, but we promise it’s worth the detour. What makes it unique are its murals and ceiling. This extravagant ornamentation makes it an unusual yet ideal setting for the intimate atmosphere created by the Candlelight concerts.
