August brings its share of surprises! The end of free parking has once again sounded for car owners in the Ville Rose. Between 2007 and 2023, motorists were able to take advantage of free parking, but now they have to go through the parking meter. Yes, parking in Toulouse is no longer free during the first two weeks of August. We tell you more about this not-so-new measure.
Parking in Toulouse in August is now compulsory
It’s news that will delight some and annoy others (especially car owners). From August 1 to 15, outdoor parking in the pink city is now subject to a fee. This is not a new measure, as it has been the case since summer 2023. In all, more than 16,000 parking spaces are affected by this return to paid parking.
So farewell to free on-street parking in Toulouse for the first fortnight in August. With the exception of electric cars, which are still free (for Toulouse residents only). Introduced by the city of Toulouse, this measure aims to encourage the use of soft mobility, notably cycling and walking. A decision that seems to be a step in the right direction, given that air pollution is responsible for lung problems.
