A black hole? A galaxy? A star cluster? Thanks to NASA, you can test where Hubble was in space when you were born!
In April 2020, it will have been 30 long years since the Hubble telescope roamed the vastness of space alone, discovering the mysteries of the universe. If the wandering satellite has enabled us to understand a little more about what surrounds us, and mainly that the universe is constantly expanding, Hubble has also photographed every moment of its mad dash through the unknown. Today, the James Webb satellite telescope is taking over from Hubble to photograph the farthest reaches of the universe, but Hubble’s visual legacy is immense. And here’s an unusual opportunity to travel through the stars !
To celebrate the 11-ton baby’s birthday, the US space agency NASA has posted 366 photos of various events observed by Hubble. These photos, taken over the last 30 years, are then matched to your birthday. Le site is often undergoing maintenance, a victim of its own success, but there are other options!
You can visit the official Hubble gallery website 87 pages of photos up to August 13, 1990. Or you can visit “Astronomy Picture of the Day from NASA, which lists photos taken by all the agency’s telescopes since June 16, 1995!
