Colorful, vibrant, memorable… Roy Lichtenstein ‘s works are well worth seeing. But we’ll have to be patient before we can discover the artist’s work in the Pink City. In December 2025, the Musée des Abattoirs in Toulouse will welcome the work of the New York artist and Pop Art icon. What do we know about this not-to-be-missed exhibition? We give you the lowdown.
An exhibition dedicated to Pop Art legend Roy Lichtenstein comes to Toulouse
After the exhibition dedicated to Niki de Saint-Phalle, which attracted 167,000 visitors in 2023, and the Giacometti exhibition (130,000 tickets sold) in 2024, the Musée des Abattoirs is once again going to pull out all the stops. With the exhibition “Roy Lichtenstein et la mode” (title not definitive), Toulouse will be the place to be for Pop Art and art lovers in general.
From Thursday, December 12, 2025 until the end of April 2026, the work of the American artist and sculptor will be compared with the world of fashion. The exhibition will offer an unprecedented perspective on the works of this artist, whose work includes Crying Girl and Look Mickey. Known for his “dot” method, his art is largely inspired by comic books. Little exhibited in France, an estimated 4,500 works by Roy Lichtenstein are in circulation worldwide.
The Mairie de Toulouse (which is co-producing the exhibition) and Toulouse Métropole have released a budget of 518,000 euros to bring the works of this artist, often associated with Andy Warhol, to Toulouse!
