A medieval village perched between history and breathtaking views

Strolling through its cobbled streets, you feel as if you have stepped back in time. The stone houses, vaulted passageways, and natural viewpoints give Bruniquel a unique charm, enhanced by its spectacular natural setting. For a truly breathtaking experience, don’t miss the Cabéou circuit, an accessible hike that allows you to admire the village and castles from incredible angles.
Bruniquel—two castles, a family history… and cinema

Reunited in 1780, the two castles enjoyed a second lease of life in 1975 when they were used as the setting for the cult film Le Vieux Fusil, starring Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret. An exhibition dedicated to the film can now be seen on site.
The old castle offers an exceptional panoramic view of the gorges, while the newer castle, which has been partially restored, can be visited as a veritable labyrinth of rooms steeped in history. With a reopening scheduled for February 21, 2026, the castles make Bruniquel an unmissable getaway for lovers of heritage, nature… and cinema.
