Eggs, milk, flour, sugar… As Candlemas approaches, your pantry is stocked with all the ingredients needed to make Cyril Lignac’s crêpes recipe. But how about a little Yatsufusa pepper this year? In 2025, making our own crepes is out of the question. We’re off to Maison Chaya, this Breton-Japanese restaurant in Toulouse, which offers galettes and crêpes that skilfully blend products from Brittany and Japan. We guarantee you, Candlemas is going to taste great!
This Breton-Japanese restaurant in Toulouse is the perfect place to celebrate Candlemas.
Do you know Maison Chaya? Located just a stone’s throw from the Esquirol metro station, this Breton-Japanese restaurant is sure to take your taste buds on a journey. In fact, the restaurant’s family-style cuisine offers a unique opportunity for sharing. Much more than just a Japanese restaurant, buckwheat, soy sauce, sake and cider are skilfully blended in our glasses and on our plates. In this way, the team brings out the best in two cultures that are (seemingly) at odds with each other.
At Maison Chaya, crêpes and galettes are made with seasonal produce and ingredients from Occitanie, Brittany and Japan. Another guarantee of quality, their menu is renewed every 6 to 7 weeks. The current menu includes a savory galette with oyster mushrooms and Shimeji (a Japanese mushroom) for €9.50. And don’t even get us started on their sweet menu, which we could eat in its entirety!
Take, for example, their wheat crêpe with matcha caramel (6.50€). It’s hard to resist! For those who like consistency, consider discovering their signature dish called “galetaki”, a buckwheat galette rolled maki style (12.50€). Whether it’s for their reasonable prices or their dreamy flavors, we’re ready for the trip! And what about you?
