Light festivals bloom near Toulouse! After “L’Éveil des Lanternes” in Le Barcarès, it’s time for the “Féérie des Lanternes” in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. More precisely, it’s in Corrèze – near Brive-la-Gaillarde – that Northern Europe’s most grandiose festival of light awaits you.
Since December 5, 2025, the Château de Castel Novel – a place steeped in history – has been hosting the spectacular “Féérie des Lanternes“. This event is the perfect enchanted interlude for a family getaway. This magical journey, which lasts until February 15, 2026, is the perfect opportunity to brighten up the winter season!
The Château de Castel Novel, a heritage site in Correze, sublimated by winter light
Did you know? The history of Castel Novel dates back to 1289. At the time, it was a medieval fortress. Occupied by the English, it later became famous for the writer Colette, who lived here and wrote several of her works, including “Les heures longues”.

Today, two passionate Corréziens manage the site and promote this rich heritage. One of the ways they are doing this is by transforming the estate this winter into a veritable Kingdom of Lights. At nightfall, the eleven-hectare park will host a five-kilometre-long trail of lights. A brilliant way to (re)discover this historic site.
La Féérie des Lanternes, the program for this wonderful world
Among other things, this luminous festival offers spectators a plunge into the world of Alice in Wonderland. And that’s not all: over a thousand handcrafted silk sculptures line your path. Illuminated by a million LEDs, the atmosphere of this luminous stroll is pure dreamland. You’ll come across giant mushrooms, floating maps, mysterious creatures and a monumental clock ten meters high… To enjoy this colorful journey, don’t forget to book your ticket. It’s the guarantee of a memorable evening, just a 2-hour 20-minute drive from Toulouse!
