From Monday, July 1, 2024, fares for public transport in Toulouse, managed by Tisséo, will rise again. We tell you who is affected and how much the increase will be.
Ah summer, sun, beach… and rising prices. As is often the case each year, many tariffs are indexed on July 1. In addition to gas, you’ll have to pay more for public transport in Toulouse.
Tisséo has announced a change in its prices, effective this Monday. This increase is intended to finance the development and maintenance of the city’s metro, bus and streetcar network, which carries over 500,000 passengers every day.
Designed to make life and mobility easier for Toulousans, the network’s future projects include the construction of the third metro line (Line C) scheduled for 2028, the extension of the Linéo bus network with three new lines by 2025, the opening of a tramway line to Toulouse-Blagnac airport and the integration of six new communes into the area served by Tisséo
But how do you justify this increase in Tisséo prices in Toulouse?
Those who followlocal news will not be surprised by this rate increase. It had already been planned and announced. It is part of a fare plan adopted by Tisséo Collectivités in July 2022, which provides for annual increases until 2026.
Tisséo Collectivités Chairman Jean-Michel Lattes rightly pointed out that these increases are necessary to maintain an adequate level of service and to keep pace with inflation. Rising energy and materials costs remain a major challenge for mass transit systems.
Despite these increases, the Tisséo network remains one of the cheapest in France, with solidarity fares for the most modest and free travel for certain categories of user. A far cry from the 4 for a ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris!
