An unmissable cultural bargain, lovers of free museums and cultural venues often look forward to the 1st Sunday of the month to be able to visit these places without paying a penny. Toulouse Secret gives you a list of the must-see cultural sites in the Pink City.
Free access to culture – it’s possible!
The city of Toulouse has set up a number of initiatives to facilitate access to culture for all those interested. These include the muséelibre card, which offers free access to permanent museum collections all year round.
However, free admission to museums in France on the 1st Sunday of the month is an event that was introduced in the 2000s and continues to win over the public. This monthly offer is a great opportunity to learn something new, without breaking the bank.
Without further ado, here’s the list of free museums on the 1st Sunday of the month:
- The Quai des Savoirs focuses on scientific, technical and industrial culture.
- Toulouse Natural History Museum.
- Musée des Abattoirs, Toulouse’s museum of contemporary and modern art.
- Musée Saint-Raymond, where you can discover Toulouse’s ancient history.
- The Musée Georges-Labit, with its focus on Asian art and ancient Egypt.
As an added bonus, here’s a list of monuments in Toulouse that are also free to visit on the 1st Sunday of the month:
- the Jacobins convent
- The EDF Bazacle space and its permanent exhibition on renewable energies
